What We Believe

The Endwell United Methodist Church is one of 72 churches in the Binghamton District of the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church whose mission is, β€œTo live the gospel of Jesus Christ and to be God's love with our neighbors in all places.” Embracing the mandate from John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, that the "world is our parish" we strive to serve both our local and global communities to the best of our God-given abilities.

We join together with over 9 million United Methodists world-wide who affirm the following:

1. We use scripture, experience, tradition and reason as guidelines for belief.

2. We affirm the primacy of grace as God's loving action to all.

3. We affirm the essence of holiness and the Holy Spirit shaping us toward the image of Jesus.

4. While all are sinners, every person is endowed and reconciled with the full splendor of human worth.

5. Conversion and new birth is experienced in different ways but are the visible expressions of repentance and trust in Christ.

6. Faith and good works belong together.

7. We believe that "Prevenient Grace" is God's love that goes before us and leads our hearts toward faith.

8. Since United Methodism is born of different faith traditions and theologies, tolerance and diversity is at the heart of who we are.
