Email from the Pastor

Good Tuesday morning, Endwell UMC.  This will be my last email until August 6th.  While I am away the office will be open as usual and Pastor Sean will cover any emergency pastoral situations, while leading worship on July 25 and August 1.  During those (2) Sundays you will have the privilege of sharing in the faith journey of Pastor Sean's Father-in-law, Phout Chamlersouk on 7/25 and Cindy Barber on 8/1 during these two Witness Sundays.  I thank them both as I know we will be blessed as they share their faith with us.  We will be sharing Holy Communion on August 8th.

Thoughts to Ponder

"No one can go back and make a brand new start, but anyone can start here and make a brand new end."

"The answers you get depend upon the questions you ask.....ask wisely"  Thomas Kuhn

This has described my day so far and maybe yours also:  "The next time your mind wanders, follow it around for a while" :-)

"The Lord needs more witnesses not more judges"    John E. Herman

"You cannot fix what you will not face."     James Baldwin

"Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing themselves."     Leo Tolstoy

"Every opportunity to fear is also an opportunity to trust God"    John Maxwell

"Character is the total of thousands of small daily strivings to live up to the best that is in us."

"Never do we portray our own character more vividly than in the manner of portraying another"

"You will never stub your toe standing still,  The faster you go the more chance you have of stubbing your toe and the more chance you have of getting somewhere"     Charles Kettering

"Never does the human soul appear so strong and noble as when it forgoes revenge and dares to forgive."
Romans 12:17 "Never pay back evil for evil.  Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honest clear though."   TLB

Worship is the submission of all of our nature to God.  It is the quickening of conscience by the holiness of God, the nourishment of the mind by the truth of God, the purifying of the imagination by the beauty of God, the opening of the heart to the love of God, and the submission of the will to the purpose of God.                         Archbishop William Temple

CONVERSION IS moving from “that belongs to me” to “I belong to that!”  To move from "selfish vision" to "service vision", to move from “do something for me” to “let me do and be for God and others.”

As I go forward in life I will make it my goal to focus on the donut and not the hole :-)  (taken from the children's sermon on Nov 23)

"Our prayers are answered not when we are given what we ask but when we are challenged to be what we can be."   -  - Morris Adler

The "what if" question begs completion: "what if we tried?"
